After an extensive nationwide search, Rochelle Community Hospital named Bruce D. Peterson as their new President and Chief Executive Officer effective March 1. Serving as the hospital’s Interim CEO since October, Peterson assumed the position when Gregory A. Olson resigned.
“We feel confident that Bruce will be an asset to the hospital as we move forward to meet the challenges in healthcare,” said David Louis, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Peterson comes to Rochelle with over 14 years’ experience as Chief Executive Officer of Mercer County Hospital in Aledo, Illinois. Under his leadership, the hospital went from being no longer viable to a center for community health. Well versed in the administration of a rural Critical Access Hospital, Peterson also helped Mercer County Hospital achieve critical access status. He brings 14 years of experience as a hospital administrator, as well as expertise as a consultant in the healthcare field for the past five years, to his duties at Rochelle Community Hospital. In addition, Peterson has helped write grants successfully for healthcare organizations that secured funding, including $500,000 for a cancer center and $2 million for an education center in a community hospital. He has also coached various hospitals that were experiencing losses to become more profitable in savings and reimbursements.

A graduate of Kettering University in Flint, Michigan, Peterson went on to achieve his Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota. He is also a licensed professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin and a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Illinois. Peterson and his family currently reside in Aledo, Illinois, but will be relocating to Rochelle..
