Rochelle Community Hospital, the event sponsor for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Rochelle, announces a new Bike-A-Thon fundraising event.
The Bike-A-Thon will be held on Saturday morning, May 10, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the hospital’s employee parking lot on Second Street across from the Urgent Care. All participants will ride laps beginning at 10:00 a.m. around a set course to raise money for this year’s Relay. Pre-registration is $5 per rider; $7 day of event and a maximum of $12 per family (brothers/sisters).
From 9:00-10:00 a.m., before the event begins, bike safety will be offered by the Secretary of State’s office. The Rochelle Police Department will register bikes for $1 each donating the fee to Relay. Kids can also decorate their bikes prior to the start.
Ken’s Hub City Cycle will provide prizes for the rider with the most laps in four age groups: 5 and under, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-12. A raffle drawing will be held for two bike helmets, also provided by Ken’s Hub City Cycle and a bike rack.
Big Day DJ will entertain the riders and a first aid station, sunscreen, water and snacks will also be provided.
A smaller track for toddlers will be available aside from the main course and an activity table.
